[1053]
Robert Watkinson became estranged from his wife Rose after he was caught having an affair with mistress who happened to work at his Bexhill store. As a result to their split up, Rose was given ownership of the boot and shoe retail store in Hastings, but seeing as she had no practical experience owing and operating a business, it soon folded by the time she was forty years of age.
Fortunately, Rose was supported by her two sons, and managed to live comfortably.
Robert Watkinson returned home to his family one night, after the shop in Hastings had closed down. His son, Albion Tooke, kicked him out of the house with a shotgun.
