Elisabeth Gilby - Family History Notes
Elisabeth Gilby was the Wife of Henry Gilby(1789-1842), and
when she married Henry was Elisabeth Bailey.
Henry, in the 1841 Census had the Red Lion Inn in Hockerill, Hertfordshire and presumably he and Robert Percival knew each other quite well.
Henry and Elisabeth had Several Children, one of whom Walter (1831-1914) became a baronet. He was godfather to Percy's Middle son who was named, Walter Gilby Percival after him.
Henry according to "Merchants of Wine" by Alec Whaugh, was at one stage the coaching
proprietor the Rose and Crown Bishop Stortford, and very sucessful. However they were unable to adapt to the coming of the train, which deprived them of all passengers and left them broke.
