Notes

Eleanor Barton - Family History Notes. She had two brothers who farmed in Glostershire. Flora Vivien and Nona loved going there in holidays. From a funeral notice for John Barton in a paper. on the 11th August 1924 - Mr John Barton of Sunnyside, Stratton, was the last surviving member of n old and respected Gloucestershire Yoeman family long connected with sheep breeding and agricultural pursuits on the Colswolds. He was the son of John Barton of Coln Rogers , of whoes well known well known flock of Coltswold sheep there were records going back to 1640. The flock was moved from Coln Rogers to Fyfield in 1828 were it was continued by Mr Charles Barton. Mt John Barton farmed for many years under Miss Gordon at Kemble. He and his brother in law the late Mr J.M. White, (Mrs Barton being Mr Whites's sister) occupied and cultivated practically the whole parish of Kemble. Mr Barton retired, in 1886 when Miss Gordon died and moved to Stratton. Mrs Barton pre-deceased him by 3 or 4 years. He was a follower of the V.W.H. hounds until a few years before his death.
