I John Arthurs of Chilson in the parish of Charlbury in the county of Oxford, yeoman, being in good health and perfect mind and memory, praised be God for it and considering with myself the uncertainty of this transitory life doe therefore mak e this last will and testament to settle those Earthly Blessings it hath pleased God to lend me in manner following. First I give my soul into the Hands of God who gave it and my Body to the Earth from whence it was taken hoping for salvation thr ough our lord Jesus Christ and to be Buried in such Christianlike like [sic] manner as my Executors herein after named shall think fit. First my will is that all my just debts and funeral expenses are freely discharged, first give to my son John all that my estate of free land at Chilston [sic] wherein I now dwell with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging and also all that my estate of lease of life land which I purchased of and from my Lord Lovell at the Age of four and tw enty years he paying such legacies herein after named and also paying to my loving wife Anne four pound a year during her natural life as an Annuity payable at the four most usual quarterly days of payment (that is to say) at Saint Thomas at Lad y Day at Midsummer and at Saint Michael and also the great Room if she shall keep herself a widow but in case she marry I give her twenty shilling a year only and no more. Next I give to my daughter Rebecka the sum of seventy five pounds at th e Age of one and twenty years of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid in manner following - fifteen pound thereof by my Executrix and sixty pounds payable out of my Estates by my son John and I also give to my daughter Rebecka my fe ather bed and bedstead and all the furniture thereunto belonging which was her mothers and my cheast [sic] of drawers and all the linnen markt [sic] R.C. and three pewter dishes and a skillet and two gold rings that was her mothers and one oak che st all which was her mothers. Next I give to my daughter Jane the sum of sixty pounds within four years after my son John shall enjoy my estates payable out of my Estates. Next I give to my wife my household goods during her widowhood she makin g no waste and after her death or marriage to my son John's daughter Rebecka and Jane equally among them. Next my will further is that in case my son John should die without having lawfully begotten I give my leasehold estate to my daughter Rebecka for the remainder of the said term then to come and unexpired. Next I give to my daughter Jane all my freehold estate at Chilston [sic] in case my son John Die without hence lawfully begotten she paying my wife the said annuity aforesai d and also paying to my daughter Rebecka the sum of forty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain within twelve months after months after my wife's decease if she should happen to enjoy the said estate.
